In the spring of 2023 The Schaibley Company established our hose production area to supply custom hose assemblies and kitting. After requests from existing customers and new OEM cliental, it became apparent that our extensive manufacturers network, on hand inventory, and competitive pricing were ideal for supplying customers with custom built hydraulic hoses and kits to complete builds. The growing production shop is located at our newest facility in downtown Continental, Ohio. The hose fabricators’ currently produce an average of 600 hoses a week with capacity for more. Average turnaround is 2 weeks depending on inventory levels on hand and existing orders. Hose fabricators can produce 1/4″ to 1-1/4″ in 2-Wire and 4-Wire hoses up to 6090PSI. We can also source and produce numerous styles, coatings, and variations to fit customer needs. The hose shop is headed by John Hoshock who has over 40 years of experience in the hydraulic industry. He is assisted by several of our warehouse staff who are also trained in hose fabrication.
All hoses are cut using our 5HP CleanCuts HYDM100 hydraulic hose saw. This saw utilizes a 10″ blade and forming plate which bends the hose into the blade to create a clean, uniform cut for easy fitting insertion. The saw also features a shop vac hookup at the back which is used to pull any debris out of the saw/hose during the cut.
After cutting, hoses are ready to have fittings inserted. Utilizing our Pneumatic TH2-7 Parker Hose Insertion Table we are able to ensure each fittings is securely on the hose. Because this machine is so effective we do not use any penetrants or lubricants which may contaminate the hose. This table also provides the ability to do straight, 45°, and 90° fittings of all sizes. Once inserted the fittings are inspected for depth and any angled fittings are “clocked” to the desired degree.
Hoses are now ready to head to one of our two DE100 Crimpers boasting 100T of pressing force. These adjustable crimpers allow for custom settings to accurately achieve crimp specifications of many different brands, styles, and specifications. These machines are capable of up to 2″ hoses. After crimping completion the fitting’s finished crimp diameter is inspected for accuracy against the manufacturers provided specification.
Hoses are finally ready for the last steps in the process. Hoses are first visually inspected for any anomalies and measurement accuracy. Then hoses are pneumatically cleared of any debris with a strong burst of air before being capped to ensure optimum cleanliness even during transportation. Lastly, hoses are tagged with the customers requested information which often includes a numbering system linked to a batch.
Now that hoses are completed they are transferred back to the main distribution center to be prepared for shipment. Often at this point other products such as adapters, hardware, mounting accessories, and any other production supplies are added to the shipment for customers.
As our hose production and company continues to grow we are always looking to add new OEM clients interested in utilizing our hose production capabilities. We are also continuously looking to invest in our hose production process and plan to expand the facility in years to come.
